A New Path

“I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on paths they have not known. I will turn darkness to light in front of them and rough places into level ground. This is what I will do for them, and I will not forsake them.”  (Isaiah 42:16, HCSB)

February 10, 2016 my beloved drove me to the hospital for an outpatient procedure. We sat in silence for most of the hour long trip. I was anxious yet prayerful.

“Lord my eyes are on You. Please direct my steps and this test today- a skin biopsy. Lord, You created me and You know what’s wrong with me.

Please give me counsel.

Guide me and the thoughts and knowledge of my doctor.

Lord, don’t keep me on a physically fruitless path.

                                  Lord I need instruction.

Your Word says:

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.” (Psalm 32:8).

Lord, what’s wrong with me? Amen.”

Prior to the

procedure, Chris and I discussed with my doctor, the adverse effects that certain foods and exercise have on my body. Taking this all in, my doctor then instructed me to put on the stylish surgical gown to prepare for the procedure. When he reentered the room, he said,

“Mrs. White, I’ve been doing some research on what you just discussed with me. I don’t think you need this skin biopsy. Instead we are going to take a different direction.”

A different direction.

“Thank you Lord.” I prayed.

My doctor explained in great detail why. I appreciated the details, but on this day the details did not matter.

I had prayed for God’s instruction. I prayed for God to give wisdom to my neurologist. I prayed for God to put me on the right path.

My God answered!

“The Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in Him.” (Psalm 32:10)

God knows what is wrong with me. He will guide me on paths unknown. He will go ahead of me. He will turn my darkness into light. He will guide the wisdom of my doctor. Because I trust in His unfailing love that surrounds me, “It is well with my soul.”
