Abundance

For the past several weeks, God has been speaking the word ‘Abundance’ over me. I wake up and the word abundance is on my lips. I pour coffee and abundance is on my mind. Scripture verses containing the word abundance have been filling my heart. Snippets of songs, phrases, and scripture pop into my mind and I write them down.

“I came so that you may have Life and live it more abundantly!”

Jesus

-John 10:10

As the calendar turned from 2013 to 2014 I reflected on all the ways God had provided in 2013. I was overwhelmed by God’s response. Overwhelmed by all the ways Jehovah Jireh revealed himself to me. (More on that subject in another post.) God answered each prayer I had with more than I asked. God provided an abundance!

“To Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, more

than I could ever ask, dream, or imagine.”

-Ephesians 3:20 (my version)

More. Abundance. These words continue to settle in the recesses of my mind as I dismantle the Christmas tree. I don’t know what it is about packing away the Christmas decorations that makes me want to de-clutter my home and moreover my heart. I decided to assign each week to area of our home to de-clutter and organize. But first I ask God to de-clutter my heart, remove anything that is hindering me from living the abundant life He has planned for me.

“Since we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

-Hebrews 12:1

I smiled when I learned that God has also been speaking the word ‘Abundance’ to a friend. God has been tenderly speaking this verse to her, reminding her of His goodness past, present, and future.

“You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.”

-Psalms 65:11

I continue to journal verses speaking of God’s abundance. As I read from God’s word, I am reminded over and over again one simple truth:Abundance is a gift from God. Each of the the verses below is a reminder of God’s gift of abundance. A gift given, stored up, brought, or provided. Gifts of love, mercy, truth, forgiveness, patience, and more importantly redemption.

“Put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and abundant redemption.”

-Psalms 130:7

“Lord, you are good and always ready to forgive;

abundant in mercy to all your call upon your name.”

-Psalms 86:5

“I celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.”

-Psalms 145:7

“How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who honor you,

good things that you give to those who take refuge in you.”

-Psalms 31:19

“God will provide…abundance will come…and sunshine will flood in.”

-Isaiah 30:23

“You tested me Lord, and refined me like silver…but your brought me to a place of abundance.”

-Psalms 66:10-12

“You gave abundant showers and refreshed the weary.”

-Psalms 68:9

Lord, I am thankful for all the ways you have provided for me. I thank you for the abundance you already have in store for me. Lord, de-clutter my heart. Reveal anything in my life that needs to be removed in order to make room for the abundant life you have already prepared for me. Lord, I thank you in advance for your gift of abundance. I thank you for refreshing this weary heart. I thank you for doing exceedingly abundantly more than I could ever ask, dream or imagine. I love you too Lord, all the more!
