Operation: Rescue Kitten

Yesterday morning on the way to work my husband noticed all the cars in front of him swerveing, obviously dodging something in the road. It was a kitten. My animal lover husband, pulled over and rescued the kitty. Our kids were so excited, they have always wanted a cat. Unfortunately our 2 Jack Russell Terrorists…oops Terriers would rather
eat-a-cat, than play-with-a-cat. So, no kitten for us.
Once at work, he tried to figure out what to do. He left the windows down and sun roof opened and gave the kitten a bowl of ice water. He asked his coworkers to take turns checking on the kitten (he had to work in another town). On his way out of town, he checked on the kitten, but no kitten is found. Did the kitten escape or is it hiding? The concern over the rescued kitten plaqued my husband so much that he took a 1/2 day off of work to take care of the kitten.
I must admit, I am not a cat person, so the very idea that my love stopped to rescue a cat is beyond me. Much less, take a half-day off without pay for a cat? What? My words to my husband…”You’ve got to be kidding me..this is a cat.”
Nevertheless, he left work early and drove to my parents house to borrow my dads tools. He was thinking the kitten was so scared it must be hiding behind the dash. My husband completely dismantled the front of the car in search of the missing kitten. My retired parents and even the neighbors thought this was great entertainment. Some were videotaping the event. Volkswagen parts were scattered all over the back yard of my parents home. Finally, after many hours of disasembling the dash the
kitten is rescued… again.

Everyone present scoffed and laughed at my husband. His co-workers (and myself) kept calling him trying to learn the latest of the saga. None of us could believe he would go to such lengths…to rescue a animal. Deep down each of us knew we would have been like every other driver on to work that day….swerving to miss the obstacle. Not my love, he stops to rescue the obstacle.

Then God, speaks to my heart. “April, I rescued you too remember. My son, went to great lengths to save you.”

Our God is crazy about us. He too goes to great lengths to rescue us.

One verse says it all.

“For God, so loved the world, that He gave his only son.

Whoever believes in him will not die but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16
